May Flower Challenge - Day 10

I'm fascinated with flowers.
They are all over my tiny apartment. I photograph them all the time.
I draw, paint, doodle them, create them out of paper...I also see them all over NYC.
Each day during May I will post flowers and I hope that you will join in.
The only rule is that your blog post or flickr photo that you link much contain flowers.
Click above on the May Flower Challenge Page to learn more.

I love the architectural elements
that are throughout NYC.

As I carried groceries tonight, I passed
by the Apple Bank on the Upper West Side.
I've walked past this building
hundreds of times in the past 12 years.
I never noticed the doors
until tonight - when my hands were full.

I love the flower in the center
but I also see how each square
makes a flower.

Beautiful!

Day 2: May Flower Challenge

Today I want to share where you can notice flowers in your every day and share my one of my favorite doors in NYC.

My lunch break often means that I escape my office with my camera in hand. I take a walk and explore. I look for shapes or I try to only take photos of a single color. I make it a game, all to take my mind off the spreadsheet work I was doing, the frustration, and the day to day analytical work that I do.

This is a door to a building at 181 Madison Avenue in NYC. This building was once home to the Cheney Silk Company. They commissioned Edgar Brandt, known for his Art Deco ironwork, to create these doors. I think they are beautiful.

I walk past them every week day. I see flowers.
It looks like a beautiful Art Deco zentangle.

I also notice flowers in places where I wouldn't expect to see them - like the window of the church below.

How about this one? I see them everyday. Can you see the flower below?
So, during the month of May, I want to encourage you to slow down, every once in awhile and pause, look and see if you notice more flowers around you.

Thank you for participating in my May Flower Challenge.

Participate by linking your blog post to my blog post. Each day during May, starting on May 1st, on my blog post I will have a linkytool available so that you can link your specific blog post (not just your blog but the post itself) to my blog post.

Participate by linking to the flickr group - May Flower Challenge- and adding a photo of your flower creation. Don't forget to leave a comment and then hop around and visit the other participants to see their flowers for the day.

Friday Frenzy

First, I just want to say thank you. I am always so amazed by your comments. It is so encouraging and wonderful to read your shared words. Thank you for visiting, commenting and sharing my journey.

When I get to escape the office, I often walk to Madison Square Park and right past a building on Madison Avenue that has the most beautiful doors.

Look close...there are hearts in this iron door.  I think I am in love and inspired to look for hearts around the city and share them with you on Valentine's Day.  This is going to be fun!

Meanwhile, I am feeling better, thank you for your well wishes.  So the frenzy this weekend...

  • Pictures - farmer's market on Saturday morning
  • I need to finish my orange creation for the Color Challenge - I am so behind
  • By the way, Saturday is my birthday so I am sure that there will be an outing of some kind.
  • Desk cleaning

So not too much crazy activity but it promises to be so much better than last weekend which was spent in bed.  Thanks to Tucker for stepping in last Friday and sharing some photos with you. He sure is a great cat!

What does your weekend frenzy look like?
