Photo-Heart Connection

Kat Eye Studio is hosting the photo-heart connection project. On the first of each month we share the photo, that we took during the previous month, that speaks the loudest and the strongest to our heart and soul.
Of all the pictures that I captured during February, this one is the one that I keep going back to...it makes me smile.

I love the white painted bricks the contrast of the two windows, for some reason, just touches me.

You see, in NYC you need to capture a little of the outside natural world any way that you can and the person who lives in the apartment with that cute little window on the bottom has made a lot of effort to make that happen. Not only did they have to pay for the window (there is no way a landlord paid for that cute window) but they also needed to have it installed. Now they have a beautiful source of light and an indoor garden - so fun.

You see, I have already in my mind and heart imagined a story about the person who lives there. I imagine they have a cat who also likes the window, tons of books, and that the window is in their kitchen above the sink. I imagine that they dream as they wash their dishes enjoying the view of the High Line and surrounding buildings.

I have nothing to base my story on but that window and that makes me giggle - but creating a story, imaging what and who lives inside, even simply enjoying the contrast in the photo takes me back to that sunny afternoon walk with my BF and I smile.

  3. Oh Lori girl... i LOVE LOVE this photo!! i love that little bit of shadow at the top right corner and the big bit of shadow at the bottom left... the lovely diagonals everywhere, the shadow of that wire coming out of the window and yes, those plants/flowers in that window space. So many good things about this photo. Oh, and i love that it's practically black & white. :-)

Hope you've been well girl! I'm swamped, but good. :-) Take care girlfriend!! xoxo

  4. I'm glad you've shared this image and thoughts about it. I think I would have missed this "little thing". That you've given a story to it's owner ups the charm more, and speaks to an undoubtedly charming imagination you must have. Image. Imagination. Hmmmm. Never really thought of that before. Thanks for that little gem to occupy my mind with this afternoon too.

  5. This makes me smile too! I'm always making up stories about places and people. My husband tolerates that, even though he doesn't understand it! I really like your image! I like the lines and I love the shadow of the window! I think that would my apartment on the bottom, I couldn't live without a touch of nature!

  8. I love this window too! Thanks for sharing your imagined story, it became mine as well. I am struck by the contrast of this beautiful window, added with intention and love, to the window above. The life in that lower apartment must be so much happier and brighter. Thank you for sharing your Photo-Heart Connection!

  10. Not only do the contrasts of the two windows stir the imagination, but the stark white fresh paint, in NYC, makes one go wow too. Nice shot - great story, what would life be if we couldn't create our own fun stories about the world around us.

  12. Ah, the High Line...yes. And they could look out the window, through the plants and the cat's tail, and see me walking the High Line, and we would smile and wave. Ah, what a lovely, lovely photo you have taken and made into a story.

  13. This is a great photo. I really enjoying "seeing" NY through your eyes. Did you grow up in NYC, or move there for school/work? I miss making buying trips to NY. We always had so much fun exploring the city.
