This photo, of all the photos that I have taken this past month, touched me the most.
As I walk the city, I notice and photograph so many things that speak to me and/or make me think of things that are going on within my heart and head at any given time. I notice letters where letters do not exist, messages from the universe within advertising and signage, shapes, colors and patterns. It really is how I see the world.
This photo, however, was taken while on a walk after a lovely lunch with my BF. He is always so patient with my fascination with whatever it is that has tickled me that day. He knows that if and when I reach into my purse It is for my camera and he will walk slower or watch me as I focus and shoot my subject of the moment. I was obsessed with shadows on this walk back home through the park. I was distracted by their length, their shape, and how the sun and clouds changed the intensity of the shadow.
This photo makes me smile deep within myself, you know, the kind of smile that makes your heart grin.
See, I met my Superman 25 years ago, and I have known that he was/is the love of my life. We dated back when I was in college but it took us many years and separate lives filled with lessons to reconnect. Now, we spend our lives together through the good and the bad, the joyous and the difficult.
In this photo, I love the length of the light post due to the position of the sun - how straight it is. And, especially, I love the way that our bodies lean into one another and touch in the shadow. I am smiling as I type this because it just brings such deep comfort and happiness. This is the message for me - a sense of home.

What a romantic image - just lovely! The curves of shadows frame your shadows so nicely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful heart connection! I can feel it in your image, how the shadows and lines all curve in toward the middle, to the shadow of the two of you, curving together. I can feel it in your words, why this image is so important to you. "Deep comfort and happiness" - could you ask for more? Thank you so much for joining us on this journey of the Photo-Heart Connection. I'm happy to get to know you in this way!
ReplyDeleteSuperman...what a lovely way to think of him. I love playing with shadows too-in this image the caring you share for one another comes right thru.
ReplyDeleteThe two of you leaning into each other in the light, in the shadow is a beautiful definition of your relationship. I enjoyed your writing as well as your photo.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely image! The photograph told the story even before I'd read your beautiful words. This photo connects with my heart, too.

ReplyDeleteWonderful words and image. Love the lines and curves of your shadows and how you lean into each other. Such a beautiful image to express intimacy and connection you have.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words and a beautiful photo. Love how you are leaning in to each other.
ReplyDeleteThere is something mysterious about shadows that I love. I think it's quite interesting how the shadow of the light post curves, almost pointing to the trees as if to say, walk this way!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, even before I read your connection, I was thinking about how I loved that your shadows are somewhat distinct, but yet form into one. It's what makes the picture so special. It's like one plus one equals both two and one...if that makes any sense :)
ReplyDeleteI have always loved shadow pics, and in fact gave one of myself and my husband to him, with a favorite quote, for Christams on a canvas. The shadow of the light pole is cool; it makes you want to walk into the picture and see what else there is to see!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely connected photo...your words, " the kind of smile that makes your heart grin." I know that kind of smile...
ReplyDeleteA wonderful heart connection, one guaranteed to make us smile.
